Days of Summer...

What do you do with a big hill in your backyard.....

How about a BIG slip-n-slide.....

For the last several years, the youth group from our church has an event called Hillslide (the name of our church is Hillside Chapel) because the location of the church is obviously on a hill. Our home (we live in the parsonage) sits on the highest point in the county so it's a great location for this. In the summer we have the Hillslide and come the snowy days of winter, we have sledding.

Here comes Sam....

Then there is Jessica...

And finally Ben, holding on for dear life....

If you only knew how fast the kids come down on this. I guess there is something to be said for the baby soap they put on it:)

School starts tomorrow for my kids, so today we enjoying one last day of summer vacation. Unfortunately the weather is not cooperating, so it looks like we will be inside. Maybe I can send them outside to play in the rain?

  1. That looks like so much fun. baby soap did the trick and no tears... Smart momma! I used about 3 bags of candy corn. I only ate the ones that broke in half;)

  2. That is so great! I can't think of a more perfect way to end the summer break! I am sure your kids had a ball! (And did you go down the slide too?) Enjoy your banana bread today! :)

  3. That reminds me of my youth group days when we did something similar. It looks like so much fun that I'd like to do it now, even though I've clearly outgrown "youth group" status. :)

I hope the school year gets off to a great start for your children!!!

  4. This is the coolest slip 'n slide ever- how do the little ones do on it?? Do they make you sign a waiver of liability??

    I'm so Californian sometimes!

  5. What fun! I don't know of a kid anywhere who wouldn't enjoy that!!!

Enjoy your last day of summer break!! Know that I'm praying for your kids as they begin this new school year.

  6. great pictures, actions shots! Katie had a nice time despite her "boo boo" on her foot :)

  7. This is SO MUCH FUN! Our youth group would flip out for that slide! I've never seen one that long. And such a clever name, too. I love your header and tagline, by the way. Have I told you that before?

  8. Rofl......i want to come play! Looks like soooo much fun. I am gonna have to try that poppyseed recipe...sounds delish. Like your recipe books all in a row with the old scale. cherry

  9. Hi Christy - I love it!
Looks like a blast. I think I'd even have fun ... LOL.

  10. Oh my word! I am so jealous...that looks like SO...MUCH...FUN! I love slip n' slides...and that is the biggest one I have ever seen! This is surely the kind of slip 'n slide they have in heaven!

  11. Hi. I found your blog while doing a google search. It's a nice blog, but I thought you should know that in just reading this post I have learned your kids' names, the name of the church where the parsonage you live in is located, and the town/state where you live (which is located underneath your picture) for all to see! I'm not saying this to scare you, but to inform you that you are making it TOO easy for someone to potentially stalk/harm you and your family! You should really make some changes!

  12. haha. I just had to leave a comment on this post... because we too have a huge hill. Well, my husband dubbed it Mt. Flushmore (if you catch my drift). We decided to turn lemons to lemonade, and make it our sledding and our slip n slide hill. sooo, I must ask, HOW did you make that awesome slip n slide?? I need advice!

Your thoughts...
