That Time Of Year

Baseball season.

The back of the van is no longer an empty place for the groceries, but instead, carries lawn chairs, blankets, and baseball gear. And dirt.

Buying Gatorade in bulk.

Home Runs.

Bubble gum and sunflower seeds.

High fives and lots of "Atta Boy!"

Farmer tans.

Baseball games under the lights.

Sandwiches for dinner.

The old, familiar lesson that it's not always about winning.

And a whole lot of OxiClean.

Psalm 119:33-40 (The Message)

God, teach me lessons for living so I can stay the course.
Give me insight so I can do what you tell me-my whole life one long, obedient response.

Guide me down the road of your commandments; I love traveling this freeway!
Give me a bent for your words of wisdom, and not for piling up loot.
Divert my eyes from toys and trinkets,
invigorate me on the pilgrim way.

Affirm your promises to me-
promises made to all that fear you.

Deflect the harsh words of my critics-
but what you say is always good.
See how hungry I am for your counsel;
preserve my life through your righteous ways!

Today I Can Trust Him

Come to Me with your plans held in abeyance. Worship Me in spirit and in truth, allowing My Glory to permeate your entire being. Trust Me enough to let Me guide you through this day, accomplishing My purposes in My timing. Subordinate your myriad plans to My Master Plan. I am sovereign over every aspect of your life!

The challenge continually before you is to trust Me and search for My way through each day. Do not blindly follow your habitual route, or you will miss what I have prepared for you.

As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9) ~ "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young

Heaven On A Spoon

The impulse baking that occurred in my kitchen yesterday was well worth it because I now have another recipe that I have added to my list of all-time favorites.

This chocolate cobbler is seriously one of the best things I've ever eaten.

Now, I am off to run 25 miles on the treadmill.

Chocolate Cobbler

When I saw this recipe, I knew I had to make it. Immediately. Seriously, the chocolate cobbler is baking it's little heart out right now in my oven. Never mind that I am trying so very hard to lose some extra pounds. I just couldn't resist. In my book, I am bringing a little bit of happiness to my little corner of the world.

It's The Little Things...

Like chocolate chip cookies after school.

Holding hands at the dinner table and thanking God for His provision and care.

A good book.

The sound of rain hitting the rooftop and the roll of thunder off in the distance.

Sending the boys off to school with a hug and "I love you".

The morning phone call with my sister.

Having my husband go to the grocery store this morning just so I don't have to go out in the rain.

My daughter's smile.

It's Been Way Too Long...

Other things have been occupying my time and attention this last month so my words have been very few here on my blog. It's been a good month in many ways in spite of the busyness and mundane activities that so often occupy my days. Funny how everyday can be so much of the same, yet so different. I have truly been living the motto of "taking it one day at a time".

This week begins an even more crazy schedule for our family. One word can sum it up... baseball. I absolutely love this time of year because it means a whole lot of time with these guys...

As a family, we have always been very intentional about keeping our schedules and activities at a minimum. We are strong believers in not overcommitting ourselves or our children. It's so easy to get wrapped up in "good" things and lose sight of really what is the "best".  I hope that my children are seeing from our example and decisions of what living a peace-filled and restful life is like. And one that lends itself to being ready when God calls us to serve.

The Lord is stirring some things up in my heart right now too, where again, I am taking it one day at a time. There has been a restlessness in my spirit that I can't quite come to understand yet. I just keep doing what I know to do which is to seek Him and trust Him.

I am so thankful for so much today. For the time spent with family yesterday, conversations with friends, opportunities to be a friend, for the three children that call me "Mom", a husband that I fall in love with more and more everyday, and for a Savior that loves me.

To My Mom and Mother-In-Law...

The greatest impression a mother can leave on her child is the message of her living FAITH, unwavering HOPE, and steady TRUST in God that will be engraved on their heart forever.

I love you both so very much. Happy Mother's Day.
